Release Notes

10/24/2009 - Bug Report

Build 1.3.3 - July 30, 2009

This update adds FULL support for WTV files when the Console is running on Windows 7.  See WTV File Support.

If upgrading from an earlier build, you MUST uninstall from the Control Panel first and then re-install.  Data files will be retained, but you will need to Re-configure AutoCopy.

SeriesInfo Database:  The SeriesInfo database may not display previous WTV recordings correctly.  Current recordings will show twice, one without an episode title (earlier build) and then another which includes an episode title.  For the most part, this will clear up over time as episodes are deleted.  However, it is necessary to manually edit the SeriesInfo database to remove the earlier (duplicate) entries which don't have an episode title but have the same air date.  To remove duplicate episodes, install and run Recorded TV Manager 3 on the Host (Windows 7) machine.  In the SeriesInfo dialog, select the series and then right-click the duplicate episode and select Delete this episode from the context menu.

Delete Episode

Important: If you select Delete this episode and then close the SeriesInfo dialog and close Recorded TV Manager 3, the deleted episode change will not be permanent.  (This program error will be fixed in the next build of Recorded TV Manager 3.)

Workaround: Before selecting Delete this episode, check (or uncheck) the checkbox next to the episode.  This additional change to the episode status will force the program to update the data file and the deleted episode change will be permanent.

The easiest way to clean up the SeriesInfo Database is to delete the file SeriesInfo.xml from the Recorded TV Manager data directory.  Then, install the new build of Recorded TV Manager 3, run the program and do a "Refresh".  This will reconstruct the SeriesInfo database from current recordings.  Note however, that any previous history will be lost.

Note: If you subsequently run Recorded TV Manager 3 on a non-Windows 7 client on the same network, it will put back the duplicate entries for WTV files.  This behavior cannot be changed at this time.

Build 1.3.1 Release notes still apply.

Build 1.3.1 - July 13, 2009

The Folder List is a static list and does not monitor folders for changes.  To update the Folder List, from the View menu select Refresh.

Be aware that some things take time to complete.  Transferring a large  (2+ gig) video file from one computer to another might take a few minutes.  Give things time to complete.  When in doubt, use Refresh.

Sometimes, the Series list in the SeriesInfo Database will have a blank series name as the first item in the list.  If you try to Remove it, it may crash the program.  It doesn't seem to hurt anything, so I recommend that you ignore it.

WTV files get the series name from the filename of the WTV file because the metadata is not available.  In some circumstance, the series name includes a character which is not valid in a filename is replaced with a different character.  As a result, the series name for episodes in DVR-MS format will be different than the series name for WTV files.  For example, "CSI: Miami" will be "CSI- Miami" for WTV files.
