It can also be used independently (stand alone) to provide metadata resources for other purposes. Does not require Windows Home Server or any other software.
November 4, 2010 - *NEW* Add-on app for this software - xmlMetaData Search
The Recorded TV Manager MetaData Service is a Windows Service Application which runs on a Windows 7 Media Center machine on the network, and maintains an XML database of all current recorded TV metadata. The MetaData Service monitors all folders on the network which store recorded TV files, both DVR-MS and WTV files. Creating and maintaining the MetaData XML database is done automatically in the background by the MetaData Service and requires no user intervention once the software has been set up.
For Example: The MetaData associated with the file named
\\User1-pc\Recorded TV\V_WTNH_2010_04_13_22_00_00.wtv
Will be saved in a file named
V_WTNH_2010_04_13_22_00_00.xml
All MetaData XML files are stored and maintained in the MetaData Share on the hosting computer.
The MetaData which is stored in the associated MetaData XML file, is extracted directly from the recorded TV file (DVR-MS or WTV).
When new recordings are created by Media Center, the MetaData Service will automatically create a new MetaData XML file.
When recordings are deleted, the associated MetaData XML file will be deleted at the next Auto Refresh.
