Recorded TV MetaData
The MetaData Service maintains a database of xml files which contain the metadata for all recorded TV files on the network (dvr-ms and wtv). This FREE utility program (exe) provides a search interface to that xml database.
Optionally search the episode title, description, director and actors, including secondary credits which are not even displayed by Media Center.
Very fast because the metadata has already been extracted from the recorded TV files and stored in a central location.
Select and PLAY recordings from the search results.
Works on XP, Vista and Windows 7. Easy to install, no additional steps required.

Run the downloaded msi file on the target machine to install the software. You can install the software on any number of machines on your network. The installer will add an item to the Start Menu.
This software requires Recorded TV manager MetaData Service. Do not, however, install the MetaData Service on more than one machine.
Running the program the first time
The
software needs to know the location of the metadata xml files.
This is the
MetaData
Share.
If the program is running on the same Windows 7 machine where the MetaData Service is installed, then the software will locate the metadata files automatically and no further action is required to use the program.
If the program is running on a different machine than the MetaData Service is installed on, then you will be presented with a Browse For Folder dialog. Locate the MetaData Share on the network and then click Ok.
Once the MetaData Share has been located, then the program will remember that.
Using the Program
Search for: Type the text string in the edit box and then press Enter or click Search.
Include: Check the fields to include in the search
Clear: Clear the display areas.
Play: Play the selected recording. The recording will be played by the default program for playing dvr-ms or wtv files. Usually this will be Media Center, but in some cases it could be Media Player.
