Q: What's the difference between the stand-alone version of Recorded TV Manager and the Windows Home Server Add-in?
A: Recorded TV Manager Add-in for Windows Home Server provides all the same functionality and versatility of Recorded TV Manager Version 2 but runs as a Windows Service application on the Home Server. It is fully configurable through the Home Server console and, using the Recorded TV Manager WHS Client application, provides complete access to your entire recorded TV collection on any client machine on the Home network.
Q: Is there a Trial Version for the Windows Home Server Add-in?
A: No, but the FREE 30-day Trial Version of the stand-alone application is fully functional and will provide a basic experience in how the software would work in your Home Server network.
Q: What video file format does Recorded TV Manager support?
A: The program supports dvr-ms files, such as those produced by Microsoft Media Center or other software which writes to that format.
Q: What about "Restricted Content" recordings?
A: Sometimes a recording is restricted to playback only on the same computer on which it was recorded. Recorded TV Manager cannot change that, but you can still move/archive the recording to another location and then play it on the same computer where it was originally recorded from the archive location.
